5 Free things to do in Liverpool - Part I - The Uncultured Edit

I'm not the most cultured person in the world, I'd like to be able to say I was, able to appreciate fully all the arts, galleries and museums that hold some magnificent pieces, stunning artefacts. Producing this article and Part II has allowed me to visit some really great places that I know you'll really enjoy. So when you're in the City of Liverpool make sure you visit them. As the title suggests I've come up with 5 free places to visit and here they are: Number 1 on my list is Liverpool Anglican Cathedral; love a bit of religious tourism, and try to always fit in a church or cathedral into any place I visit. Why the Anglican Cathedral and not the Catholic? Two reasons, firstly, as much as I love churches, I'm not into modern and I like a church to look like a church, plus I'm Church of England, so that swung me and also because it's huge!
Suggestion two, visit The Albert Dock. If you decide to go, just remember it was built way before you were even considered; some of the streets around The Albert Dock are cobbled, so don't wear your heels, or you'll be tottering around like a drunk Friday night girl with a high degree of probabilty that you'll be visiting The Royal. The Albert Dock is a great place to visit and has something for everybody, visitor attractions include: The Beatles Story, The Liverpool Tate, The Maritime Museum and close by the Museum of Liverpool. On top of that you've got gift shops, bars and restaurants.
Right the third is, as much as I dislike them, its going to have to be a museum. I've gone for The World Museum. Why? It's just a short walk from Lime Street Station and it sounds interesting and it's in an old building. No, seriously this is an amazing museum; live exhibitions, a planetarium and loads more. If you want to do a museum, are short on time, I'd opt for this one.
Ok, we're on to the fourth, if it had been free, it would've been The Beatles Story, it's not, so I've gone for The Walker Art Gallery. If you didn't know it, it's the National Gallery of the North and houses a mix of styles, from the Impressionists to Modern and Contemporary. This is a beautiful Gallery and yes, I know people don't always want to visit a gallery, especially if you've got kids with you, but it's one that needs to be visited. There is something for everybody and young children are well catered for, with a mix of activities at the Walker Art Gallery and also interactively. Better still it is housed in an impressive building that opened its doors to the public in 1877.
The final place to visit is, although not technically free, nor culturally based, is a roof top bar. You've got two choices in Liverpool, somebody let me know if there's more. Oh Me, Oh My, is one, although a restaurant and serves a great afternoon tea, you can go and sit on the roof and drink in the view. We did attempt to visit it last week, but it was pouring down; alternatively go to The Carpathia Champagne Bar and Restuarant, don't worry they do other drinks including cocktails.
So there are my suggestions of things you can do in Liverpool, so sit back on that roof top bar with your drink and enjoy your time in Liverpool.
